Why We Gather
Transforming Pain Into Power
Healing the Sacred Thread was born from a simple, profound truth: no one heals alone. Survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and gender-based trauma carry wounds that are not just personal — they are communal, ancestral, and spiritual.
We gather each year to weave those threads back together — through ceremony, music, movement, healing arts, and the irreplaceable medicine of being witnessed by community.
This is not a conference. This is not a workshop. This is a sacred gathering — a living altar for everyone who has survived and everyone who stands with them.
Our Origin
How the Thread Began
Amor Latino Counseling Center was founded to serve the families of the Pocono region — a community often underserved, under-resourced, and overlooked in mainstream mental health spaces.
From that work, Healing the Sacred Thread emerged as an annual gathering that honors the full spectrum of healing: body, mind, spirit, ancestry, community, and earth. Last year's gathering helped birth the Goddess Retreat — a testament to what becomes possible when survivors are held in sacred space.
